A formula for membrane mediated point particle interactions on near spherical biomembranes

چکیده

We consider a model of biomembrane with attached proteins. The membrane is represented by near spherical continuous surface and proteins are described as discrete rigid structures which attach to the at finite number points. resulting minimises quadratic elastic energy (obtained perturbation Canham–Helfrich energy) subject point constraints imposed attachment calculate derivative respect protein configurations. constrained move tangentially translation rotation in axis normal reference point. Previous studies have typically restricted themselves nearly flat circular inclusions. A numerically accessible representation this derived employed some numerical experiments.

Berry phase for a particle in an infinite spherical potential well with moving wall

In this paper we calculate the Berry phase for a wave function of a particle in an infinite spherical potential well with adiabatically varying. In order to do this, we need the solutions of the corresponding Schrödinger equation with a time dependent Hamiltonian. Here, we obtain these solutions for the first time. In addition, we calculate the Berry phase in one dimensional case for an infinit...

Charged-particle orbits near a magnetic null point

An approximate analytical expression is obtained for the orbits of a charged particle moving in a cusp magnetic field. The particle orbits pass close to or through a region of zero magnetic field before being reflected in regions where the magnetic field is strong. Comparison with numerically evaluated orbits shows that the analytical formula is surprisingly good and captures all the main featu...

Membrane-Mediated Inter-Domain Interactions

The amazing ability of living cells in achieving strict and robust control of their membrane morphologies and functions over different length scales leads to the concept that membrane domains, such as lipid rafts, are the basic organization units of cellular membranes. Yet fundamental understanding of the membrane-mediated interdomain interaction still remains incomplete. In the present work, w...

Phase transitions of a tethered membrane model with intrinsic curvature on spherical surfaces with point boundaries

We found that the order for the crumpling transition of an intrinsic curvature model changes depending on the distance between two boundary vertices fixed on the surface of spherical topology. The model is a curvature one governed by an intrinsic curvature energy, which is defined on triangulated surfaces. It was already reported that the model undergoes a first-order crumpling transition witho...

On the Mott formula for thermopower of non-interactions electrons in quantum point contacts

We calculate the linear response thermopower S of a quantum point contact using the Landauer formula and therefore assume non-interacting electrons. The purpose of the paper, is to compare analytically and numerically the linear thermopower S of non-interacting electrons to the low temperature approximation, S = (π/3e)k BT∂μ[lnG(μ, T = 0)], and the so-called Mott expression, S M = (π/3e)k BT∂μ[...
